Bob had his first guitar handed to him by his grandmother at age 10 and hasn’t put it down since. By the time the painful process of developing callouses had ended, he landed his first gig playing in the church choir for his own 8th grade graduation. By age 13 his Dad started taking him to jam sessions at his friend Bob Sabourin’s house, where he first met Darrell. A lot of learning happened on those late night jam sessions that eventually led to various bands forming with his, and Darrell’s Dad, and alternating between playing bass and lead guitar. By age 15 his Dad had him playing bass guitar in his band at the local clubs.
While learning to play country music, his rebellious side was driven to rock and roll and anything else that provided a challenge to learn and grow musically. Over the last four decades, he’s been playing lead guitar in bands playing country, blues, classic/southern rock and heavy metal.
Over the years, he also spent a fair amount of time studying music theory, and pursuing other guitar styles such as Jazz, Spanish, and Classical. Life has come full circle now, and playing mostly today’s country music and bringing all the decades of his musical influences into it. While his abilities are constantly tested by the extremely talented band members of the Stone County Band, he welcomes the challenge, as it is the most valuable learning tool there is.
